Balancing Business
Long Term
Profitability REQUIRES that the various parts of a business be reasonably
balanced.
-
Marketing, because that is the Income, and
without enough income, no business can be sustainable, much less, have
the profits to enable healthy growth of the business.
-
Team Building: People make things happen. Manage THINGS, Lead People!
Inspire People! Cultivate a Team with a passion for excellence.
Use Profit Sharing so that everyone on the team is motivated, has a vested
interest and is rewarded for the overall profitability of the operations.
-
Research and Development: While R&D is expensive, ignorance is often far
more expensive. R&D is one of our strong points, with our compost research
silo lab, and our in-house ability to assay / do direct estimates of the
population of total and active bacteria and fungi. R&D comes in a number of
different areas: Composting Process; Finished Product Performance; Target
Market Demands & Perceptions; and more.
-
Public Relations, including neighbor relations. Neighbors angered by foul
odors can be very costly, and has resulted in many composting facilities
getting shut down. Foul odors are preventable, and must be prevented.
-
Process Management: While composting is a 'natural' process, when
accepting large volumes of organic material, the large volume must be
managed responsibly, and that does not mean that 'traditional' practices are
good enough.
Every Part
of the Business
must be
financially self supporting and managed responsibly.
